Today I took my very first photo shoot with my friend and roommate Brooke. She did awesome! It was so much fun! I think this is something I could enjoy doing in the future with friends and family. Here are a few of the photos.

Talk

Aloha! Today I gave a talk in church about fellowshipping in the church. I think it went pretty good! It was nice to give a talk again, since it's been a while. It was my first time to give one in Hawaii. My roommate Brooke and I went to mission prep after sacrament, which I haven't gone to in a long time. (I've only gone to it a few times) It was funny, the same guy that spoke after me in sacrament happened to be the teacher for mission prep! It was nice to hear from my bishop today, he spoke in sacrament, (we finished our talks pretty fast and so he got up and talked too) a little bit in mission prep, and then taught most of the Relief Society lesson too! He gives great lessons with good stories. Today it's a beautiful, warm sunny day, and my roomies and I are just relaxing on our couches. (we each have one that we like to sit at) Last night I watched Valkyrie with Brooke. It's a good movie! I like how it's a true story, it brings a lot more meaning to the movie. I think if it isn't too hot out in the sun, I'm going to go take some more photos, just for fun. We'll see!

Here are some photos of my summer at home. I went to my sister Jenn's family's house in Colorado for the 4th of July and visited my sister Becca and her family in Vegas with my brother Brett. I visited my good friend Pooja in Scottsdale, which was kind of an adventure getting home... I had a hard time figuring out the way, but it was worth the trip! Then my awesome cousin Chris and I went to Tucson to visit my Grandma Luebke and to visit my grandpa's grave. I'm so thankful I was able to spend so much time with family while I was home.

Weekend

This weekend has been great! Yesterday my roomie Brooke and I went into Kaneohe (closest town) and went to the mall! We ate steak and rice dinners, had Jamba Juice acai smoothies, and then watched the movie Time Traveler's Wife. We had so much fun! Then today, this morning my roommates and I had a cleaning check so we were cleaning the house for a while. Then, around lunchtime, I joined 3rd ward in their activity, which included lots of food (it was a BBQ) and we played a water version of kickball in the Little Circle (big area of grass with flags from around the world around it) on campus. The water felt great, and it was fun to slide on the slip-n-slide into home base. First base was a kiddie pool that you got to stand in. After the activity I came home and took a short nap, then headed off to Kokololio Beach to snorkel. It's the same beach that my family and I would go to when they came to visit. It's the beach that's behind the rental house we had. After coming back home I've finished some of my homework and relaxed, and soon will watch Valkyrie on my laptop. Overall I'd say it was a pretty awesome weekend! It sure was nice to relax after the week's classes and work.

Back to Hawaii

Aloha! I've been neglecting updating my blog, and I think I should update it more often from now on.

I went home for the summer, and had a wonderful time with friends and family! It was so nice to go visit my sisters and their families in Colorado and Vegas. It was my first time to Vegas, and it was great! While in Colorado we had a great time with Jenn's friends on the 4th of July. I am so glad I was able to see all of my nieces and nephews while I was home. It was my first time to see my new nephew Landon! It was such a luxury to not have to work or go to school, and be able to drive an actual car! It was so nice to spend time with my family at home, and hang out with my mom a few times. Brett and I had some good times watching movies together, and I even got to get a haircut by Clarissa before I left.

I flew back to Laie, Hawaii on June 25th. It was sad to leave home, but good to get back to Hawaii. I love both places! But I think I'll always think of my Arizona home as my true home. I started school 2 days after I got back, and it's been great! It's good to get back to work and school. I decided to change my major after I got back, so now instead of getting an Art Education major, I'm getting an Art major with 2D emphasis, plus my minor (which I was getting before too) which is Instruction Design Development. It's a great one! Because I switched, instead of graduation in December 2010, I will graduate in April 2010!!! That is SOOOO soon to me! Only two more semesters after this term, and I will be DONE. It's pretty crazy. I have mixed feelings about it, because I think it will be good to be done and move on, but I will also miss leaving Hawaii, BYU-H, and my friends here.

One thing that I realized after I came back to Hawaii is that I really like frozen bananas. Just peel a normal banana, put it in a ziploc bag and freeze it. They are so good, cool and refreshing on a hot day, healthy, and taste great! They're sweet and a little chewy too. (don't do it with green bananas, make sure they're all the way yellow before freezing)

There's supposed to be a lot of rain coming my way tonight, from the Hurricane Felicia. Luckily we shouldn't get anything more than some rain and maybe a little wind. There are flash flood warnings for my island and some of the others too, but hopefully it won't be that bad. One nice thing about it, though, was it cancelled one of my classes today! So instead of working on my project in class, I've been able to do it at home instead.
